Trees are the soure of breathing air
Breathing air quality is a subject with multiple definitions and views from ASHRAE, US EPA, Eurovent, WHO, and Health experts. Breathing Air is free from nature hence not much focus is given on this subject. The industrial revolution had raised some concerns on outdoor air quality however it had been addressed on an industrial level reducing it as much as possible on an economical scale. In developing countries individuals suffering due to poor air quality are considered less immune and nothing much is done to improve the air quality itself. One of the main reasons for this is dust particles below 10 microns are not visible to the naked eye and get neglected. 99.5% of the Airborne or air-suspended particles are below 10 microns in size.
This indicates that visually clean air is not free from particulate matter, volatile organic compounds (VOC’s), Carbon Dioxide, Aerosol & allergens ect. Individuals living urban environment, spend 90% of their time Indoors. Thus, Indoor air quality plays major role in respiratory health as well overall life.
Many of us have come across, doctors advise for patients suffering from respiratory problems (asthma patients) to move to hill stations to have better quality breathing air, to improve their health. Moreover with Covid-19 pandemic, breathing clean air has taken an entire new dimension.
Our research is currently focused on improving Indoor Air Quality in Urban office space with centralized air conditioning system. We will measure the existing air parameters such as dust particle count, CO2 level, VOC’s, Ozone level, Air temperature and Humidity. Provide confirmation on satisfactory results on Air quality through calculation, once agreed to implement, same will be demonstrated through test results without major change on the existing system.

• Improving indoor Air Filtration level to remove Airborne particles up to 0.3 Micron, on an existing system.
• Improving indoor air quality by elimination CO, Aerosol & VOC’s (Benzene, Ethylene glycol, formaldehyde).
• Introduce adequate clean outdoor Oxygen air with low energy cost.

Most of the office Employees spend 9-10 Hrs per day inside office, breathing office indoor air. Quality of office indoor air is most critical part that will influence employees health (O2 level), creativity & performance. Air Conditioning (Cooling) of office space is required for comfort feeling of employees, as well as to maintain performance of office equipment such as Laptops, Desktops and other electronic equipment’s. In the Cooling process, we neglect other aspect or the contents in the air. The unseen micro particles (below 10micron) suspended in air if not filtered are likely to be absorbed into our blood through lungs. Not only dust also CO2 level in 90% of the offices are unmonitored. However, dust particles and CO2 are basic components that can be monitored easily. The other critical aspects that need to considered are VOC’s and Aerosols (Cause for Airborne transmission disease). Modulating these parameters within acceptable range is crucial.
In a closed air conditioned office space air exhaled by one employee can be a cause for others to get infected. Since design of Air conditioning is based on recirculation of air (most of the air), a brief analysis on concerns of Indoor air quality of urban space has led to a convincing attention.
The biggest challenge is to improve indoor air quality without changing existing air conditioning system.
Will Air Purifiers Solve the problem?
Indoor Standalone Air Purifiers are effective in reducing dust particles & microbes in a closed room. However, it cannot introduce Oxygen & as a very limited coverage space, Airflow & air external static. Hence it is not a complete solution for Indoor Air Quality of office space with multiple occupants.
Introducing Filtered treated outdoor air brings in Oxygen as well as other unseen benefits such as natural Irons.
